Reading Jane Eyre & New Poll

So, I’ve read all 6 Jane Austen novels. I had planned to move right on to her minor works (The Watsons, Sanditon, Lady Susan, and the “juvenilia”) but I have felt rather uninformed as to other classics of late, so I’m taking a little break from Jane Austen (though she is always in the back of my mind, whatever I read), and right now I’m reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.

I was formally introduced to the story last winter when I watched the 1983 mini-series. While that one isn't my favorite, I am glad I saw it first (I watched a few others soon afterwards) because it has the whole story. Of course, there is much left in the book, and a book is almost always better than the movie(s).

I’m in chapter 19 out of 38 presently, so I have more than half left to go. Within the last couple days I’ve started really “getting into” the story, as happens a lot to me. My thoughts turned to my blog, and the question arose in my mind, should I do for Jane Eyre what I have for the novels of Jane Austen? You know, book review, summary of the movies, other random thoughts, quotes, etc. Because it’s nice to be doing things on one’s blog that one’s readers like to read, I made a poll concerning this question.
Please vote, and of course a comment would be great! =)

I voted "definitely"! :) Jane Eyre is one of my favorite romantic classics. The 2011 film is excellent, too, even though it's much shorter than the miniseries. They did a great job fitting as much into the movie as they could, and Mia is probably the best Jane I've seen.

I think it would be very interesting and wouldn't take the "and etc" too far. You've done reviews of other period films and classic stories that weren't exactly "Regency" but still very Delight-full and I think Jane Eyre fits the bill as well! :)
I actually haven't seen many of the Jane Austen adaptations compared before so it would be lovely to read your thoughts!

Miss Laurie,
That's what I thought too, I thought I'd just provide the option to see if someone else thought that.
I'm not sure Charlotte Bronte would be very appreciative, however, if she knew I considered her story part of Jane Austen's 'etcetera'. ha...
Did you mean you haven't seen many of the Jane Eyre adaptations compared?
Speaking of which, there is such an abundance of them! It will be quite interesting to try to review them all!

I would love, love, love to read a series on Jane Eyre. It's one of my favorite books, and Jane herself one of my favorite literary heroines. I'd really like to read what you have to say about the movie adaptations, too! (I haven't seen any of them yet, so I want to hear what's good and what's bad.)

Thanks for your encouragement everyone! It sounds like I'm going to be doing it. I'm getting ideas too. =)
And Miss Dashwood, it will be nice to be able to help you with the movies. I've yet to see quite a few of them, but I have seen some that I like pretty well. I'll be able to evaluate them better when I'm done with the book though. I think I'm on chapter 24. =)
