Another Elevensies Tag

So, I have done this tag before, but as I'm always looking for things to post and it looked rather fun, I figured I'd do it again. ;-)

We're supposed to list eleven random facts about ourselves, answer the eleven the person who tagged us came up with, come up with eleven of our own for the people we tag, and then tag eleven people.

Phew.

Okay, so I'm very bad at coming up with random facts about myself... so I decided to let funny pictures and Pinterest help me. :D Just click on the links to learn eleven useless facts about me. (I didn't want to bother saving and then uploading them. :P) Some of them won't surprise you, but hey, it didn't say that it has to be things nobody knew yet. :P

9. This describes my cat very well.
10. I am tempted to do this far too often...
11. I want a typewriter like this. (The teacup would be nice too. Also the desk or dresser or whatever it is.)
Love typewriters...

Now for Amy's questions...

1.  Have you ever eaten caviar?  If so, what was it like?  If not, would you be willing to try it someday?
Haha, no. And no. :P

2.  When did you first learn to ride a bike?
You mean without training wheels? Probably when I was six. Apparently I used to frighten my mother and sister when I'd ride it because they thought I was "accident prone" and would fall and hurt myself. So I would ride back and forth in front of the house chanting "I'm accident prone! I'm accident prone!"
;D

3.  Elizabeth Gaskell or Charles Dickens? (I leave Jane Austen out of it, we all KNOW she's the best...)

Haha yes, we all know that. And anybody who doesn't is wrong. :P (And if you try to argue with me... I will just say this. Heeheehee.)
Ummm... um... well, I like them both, but I guess I'll go with Charles Dickens. If I had to live without one or the other, there is less of Elizabeth Gaskell to live without.

4.  What's your favorite long/interesting/complex word?

I hate this answer, but I don't know. Heh. Well, see, it's not that words don't delight me, but they're not usually long or complex ones, and probably not generally interesting. I just like random words that make me smile or giggle, and I don't have a particular favorite. "Skulk" was one that made me smile t'other day. Especially when put in a phrase like "skulking about". Heeheehee.
Yes, I'm a nut.

5.  Put your music playing device on shuffle and tell us the names of the first three songs that come up, no skipping.

Heh... okay. I hardly ever listen to the whole thing shuffled, though. I don't even listen to half of the stuff. :P
1~ "The Proposal" from Miss Austen Regrets
2~ "Emma Insults Miss Bates" from Emma (1996). (Ha, I never even listen to most of that soundtrack... probably I should take it off.)
3~ A random song I recorded off a movie (just from the TV) once with my MP3 player. Only it was actually for my sister. And then it didn't work to put on her computer...

6.  What's the funniest dream you ever had?

I'm not sure... but the one I tend to tell the most was one that wasn't at all funny to me at the time. I was about three or four when I had it, but I still remember it a little.
So, for some reason I was sitting (by myself, of all things) in an audience at some sort of exhibition or museum or field-trip-ish-thing, where at the front of the room there was a roped-off area with a dinosaur inside. There was somebody at the front of the room telling us about it. Then suddenly some random lady in the audience took out a measuring tape (this sort) and pushed a button on it that made it whisk out and hit the dinosaur. Then after that happened, I was being pulled by some invisible force up to the front of the room and under the ropes with the dinosaur, where said dinosaur proceeded to take my foot up as if to eat it.
So I shrieked "No, NO! DON'T eat my FOOT!"
And then the dinosaur said in this kind of spooky voice,  "Doooon't worry, it's ooooonly a dreeeeam."
And then I woke up. :P  Very random, that dream. It's not as if I even thought about dinosaurs very often. Hahahaha.

7.  How many plays have you seen performed live? (School plays and amateur productions totally count.)

Well, the problem is, I've been in a lot of them. But then, I usually watched the parts that weren't my age group when it was the church/homeschool plays, so if I'm including those... uhhh... ten? I think? (I'm also including a random opera. Hope it counts.) A local college was doing "The Importance of Being Earnest" last year and I really really wanted to go to it but I didn't geeet toooo... *sniffle*

8.  Mexican food, Chinese food or neither?  Why?

Chinese. Hands-down, no questions asked. And... because I like it. (I'm not sure about the super authentic kind, though, haha.) And I'm not overly fond of Mexican food. (My family insists I must not belong to them after all.)

9.  Is there a name that you consistently mispronounced for years and then finally heard someone say it out loud and felt completely mortified for saying it wrong all that time?

Oh, I'm sure there are several. I just can't think of any right now... not a name, anyways. When I was younger I said "Phoebe" like "fobe" in my mind, but I never actually said it out loud. And then I heard it finally, with the context of its spelling, I was like... ohhhhh. :P I didn't think my way sounded like a name, but I still don't know how they get "fee-bee" out of that. ;D

Oh, you make me take that quiz, do you? Okayyyy... Cosette, apparently. Whatever. *shrugs*

11.  What's your favorite board game?  (it doesn't have to be an actual BOARD game... technically Bananagrams isn't a board game, but you know the genre I'm talking about)
But... I have LOTS of favorites. O_O Uhh... Balderdash is what I usually say, but it depends on my mood. And the company. :) I generally like word games the most.

Beyond Balderdash is probably even more fun. :D

Okay, and here are my eleven questions.

1) What email server is your favorite? (You know, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)

2) Which place in your own country do you most long to visit?
3) Who was the last person you emailed?
4) Who was the last person you talked on the phone with?
5) What is your favorite candy, chocolate excluded?
6) Within the next...oh, say, six months, what are you looking forward to the most? (As in, general life event)
7) Hardcover or softcover books?
What's your favorite quote about...
8) Friendship?
9) Music?
10) Books?
11) So, you're standing in a group of three people (this includes you) where one person is a friend-ish acquaintance and the other person you don't know so well. You're not really adding that much to the conversation, but then the person you don't know so well criticizes one of your favorite books/movies/characters, etc. What do you do? Scowl and shut up, jump into defense, or other? ;)

And I tag...

(Who does not have a blog, so I hereby command her to answer my tag questions in a comment.
Er, that is, I suggest that she do so. :D)
(I hereby command you to answer my tag questions in AND answer your own questions too. ;) )

And though some of you are already tagged, keep in mind that answering my questions and those of whoever else tagged you might give you an excuse not to come up with random ones, if you want to be tricky. ;)

P.S. If you do fill it out, I'd love it if you wouldn't mind letting me know just in case I miss the post. :)

Thanks for tagging me! I'll start working on it now... =D

I liked reading your answers. I agree about Phoebe, how on earth do they get fee-bee out of that? =D

Rachel Danielle said...

Hahahaha! I loved the depiction of your cat, and I loved your dream! I don't particularly like it when dinosaurs randomly seek to eat my foot either. :D Thanks for making me laugh!

Melody said...

Miss Evelyn,
Looking forward to reading it! Haha, and glad you agree about Phoebe. :)

Rachel Danielle,
Heehee, and your comment made ME laugh. :D Oh, and you should be tagged too. For good measure. (If you want to be.) I'm sure somebody I tagged won't do it. ;)

Emma Jane said...

Thank you for tagging me, Melody! You are a dear. :) I completely agree with you about Phoebe, I thought the exact same thing- and I actually said it out loud. :P Heh. I always thought it was a weird name....then I read a certain book and discovered it was the name of one of my favourite literary characters.....and I still think it's a weird name. :D
Oh my goodness, my cat is EXACTLY like that! We call him "that darn cat", like it the old movie. :)
Oh, and I have one tiny little question about the tag- am I supposed to subsequently tag eleven other people? Thank you!

~Emma Jane

Melody said...

Emma Jane,
Hahaha, I've seen that movie! Now I kinda want to watch it again. My brother and I used to watch it together... we should get it from the library and reminisce. ;) I wouldn't call my own cat that, though. I would call him a nice old pussins, like in Anne of the Island. (Are you acquainted with Anne of Green Gables?)
Yes, the idea is to tag eleven other people. :)

Charity U said...

#2, absolutely! And most of the rest of those too. :)

Chinese! Yay! Same here...most of my family loves Mexican, especially my parents. Me? Chinese every time. No Mexican. I can definitely live without it. But my siblings LIKE Chinese...just not as much as me. ;)

UGH. That thing won't let me get my result! I filled out all the Les Mis questions for me, and then it says there's an error because of my computer. *sigh* I guess I'll never know...

And because I need to answer your #6...things I'm looking forward to in six months. ALASKA in 16 days. College once I'm back. Flying to Alaska. Living in dorms. So much more! :)

Heeeey, Melody! Thanks so much for the tag! And as I did with Amy, I believe I shall answer your tag questions right here and now. :)

1. GMAIL! That's the one I use, anyway. :)

2. Country girl that I am, I have a great desire to visit NYC. Broadway may or may not have anything to do with that... ;)

3. A group email between my parents and I, actually :P

4. My bestie, Jordan. But I don't really talk on the phone much, to be honest. :P

5. Robin Eggs and Skittles. :D YUM.

6. Well, in approximately a month's time, three of my friends from Texas are coming for the weekend and we're meeting up with a bunch of friends to all go to a Hillsong United concert together. :) VERY excited about that! Other than that, I'm looking forward to a trip to Colorado in August with some friends and my 19th birthday in July. :)

7. Hardcover. Hands-down!

Er, I am TERRIBLE about writing down quotes, so all the ones jumping into my head are Jane Austen ones... :P Problem?

8. "Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love." :)

9. "Without music, life would be a blank to me." Truth! :D

10. Okay, this one actually IS my favourite quote about books: "The person, be it gentleman or lady, who does not take pleasure in a good novel must be intolerably stupid." Hehehehe. Love that guy.

11. I wouldn't care if I didn't know them very well, I would jump to the defense of my beloved fictional characters! :) And I'm quite good at debating such topics, so really, that person wouldn't stand a chance. :P Hehehehe!

This was so fun, Melody! Thanks. :)

Analiese said...

Thanks for tagging me! Not sure if I'll be able to get to that or not, but will try. :) 'Skulking' is certianly a cool word. And thank you for liking Chinese food. :D

Melody said...

Charity,
Yay! Another Chinese-food-adorer-in-a-family-of-Mexican-food-adorers. ;) I like the latter better than I USED to... once I discovered chicken enchiladas... but I still refuse to eat tostadas. Yick.
Did you try the cached copy? That worked for me.
Ooh, feel free to answer whichever of my questions you want to! I almost tagged you but then I couldn't remember whether you usually did tags, haha. So you're off to Alaska again... are you looking for any pen pals this year? ;) And what college are you going to? Living in dorms is something that sounds interesting but in the end I doubt I would enjoy it... haha. Hope you do though!

Petie,
Yay, answers!
Ha, I don't talk on the phone very often either...
Ooh you like Skittles toooo! How nice. I adore Skittles. But they did this DASTARDLY thing called taking away the lime flavor, which was one of my FAVORITES, and replacing it with Green Apple, which is NOT. >.< Well... at least they didn't replace lemon with pineapple... :P
And all the quotes you thought of were Jane Austen... :D I could hug you. Although I must also correct you--it's "who has not pleasure". ;D But on a whole you were very good at getting the quotes right. Heeheehee. And those are the first ones I think of on those subjects too, though they may not all be my favorite for each category but definitely Henry Tilney's. I LOVE THAT QUOTE. I would definitely like to spend an afternoon with him. ;)
Ha! That is exactly what I would expect of you, on #11. :D I'm not sure if I'm good at debating such topics... but I can be very relentless. Eh-heh. (I don't enjoy it though. :P)

Analiese,
Haha, you're welcome! (For the tag AND for liking Chinese food.)

Thanks for correcting me about #8, 9, and 10. I went back and sorta fixed 'em. That makes way more sense.. lol

Lily said...

This is an unusual occurrence for me to be tagged owing to the fact that I am not a blogger... yet. This should be fun!

1. I used to like Hotmail - you know m'dear - but now it has changed to a stark and ugly Outlook, so I prefer Gmail for it's variety (except for emoticons.) ; )

2. One destination is Washington DC, to visit the Smithsonian Museum and the breathtaking Library of Congress. (All of those books...)

3. The last person I emailed was my friend Carlie.

4. Haha, again, Carlie. We can never seem to find a time to both get together, so we end up emailing and phoning one another.

5. I adore Ferrero Rochers (okay, so they're chocolate, but with hazelnuts and an amazing crunchy shell), but Twizzler cherry bites are awfully nice too...

6. There is a possibility of a family vacation this fall, which will hopefully include going to the ocean! I love family vacations!

7. Hardcover. Indubitably.

8. "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'" C.S. Lewis

9. "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." Berthold Auerbach. Indeed, this is so true! Whenever I have a job to do, especially one that I dislike (such as cleaning!) I always put music on, and it makes everything better.

10. Ohhh, Melody, quotes are my one weakness, how shall I ever choose a quote about books, my other one weakness?... Okay then, here it is. I know this one will please you. "If a book is well written, I always find it too short." Jane Austen

11. I would come to the defense of that book/movie/character, but as nicely as I could. I would likely inquire why this person doesn't like it and then try to enlighten them as to why they are wrong! But, you know, everyone is entitled to their opinion. ; ) Hahaha.

Thanks m'dear. This was quite diverting!

Hehe, I walk around in circles when I talk on the phone, too! Also the checking your birth month calendar picture... but then I go look at all the others as well.

Thanks for tagging me, this looks like fun! =)

Hmmm, 'twould seem I've been most bossily commanded to answer TWO sets of eleven questions. *sobs* Oh, the things my Tween puts me through...

But first I shall commentate upon YOUR answers. You clever thing, using Pinterest pictures for the random facts! Will it come as a surprise to say that not one of them surprised ME? I loved the one about walking in circles while on the phone, heehee.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA about the accident prone thing. Sounds like something Ramona would do. :P "I'm going to have a par-teeeeeeee..."

Mmm, good answer as to Dickens and Gaskell. :D

Skulk! I love that one! And it's definitely interesting.
And you are not a nut. You are a nute. (ha, first I typed "you are not a nute" just tootuz I'm so used to using THAT spelling. :P)

Ha, I don't listen to everything on my iPod either. Proberly more than half though. I should go through and do a Purge.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVED YOUR DINOSAUR DREAM.

Wait... you SAW an OPERA? LIVE? TELL ME ABOUT IT.

Haha, I can definitely see you as Cosette. I like Cosette, no matter what other people might say. Squeeep, I'm so glad you actually did it. You dear thing. :D

I want to play Balderdash. Badly. 'Tis a pity my family doesn't have it. Oh, well, perhaps sometime I'll go over to the house of a friend who has it and we can play it together. I'll just have to hope.

Now to answer your eleven questions, then mine.

1) What email server is your favorite? (You know, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)

Gmail. :D 'Tis the only one I use.

2) Which place in your own country do you most long to visit?

Ummmm. You know the answer to this one.

3) Who was the last person you emailed?

I was going to say "you" offhandedly but then realized that wasn't true. Hayden. :D

4) Who was the last person you talked on the phone with?

Ally.

5) What is your favorite candy, chocolate excluded?

Caramel creams!

6) Within the next...oh, say, six months, what are you looking forward to the most? (As in, general life event)

Ummm... trying REALLY HARD to think of something... what a DULL life I must have... dear, dear... ummm... ooh, I'm graduating in two weeks! There's something. Muwahahahahahah.

7) Hardcover or softcover books?

I like both, but I tend to buy softcover because they're cheaper. Heh.

What's your favorite quote about...
8) Friendship?

(I'm gonna go against the flow here and see if I can make it through all three WITHOUT using Jane Austen. Can. I. Do. It.) I discovered this one recentatiously and fell in love with it: “There is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved, but an expansion, an interpretation, of one’s self, the very meaning of one’s soul.” –Edith Wharton :D

9) Music?

"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent." ~Victor Hugo

10) Books?

In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you. ~Mortimer J. Adler

11) So, you're standing in a group of three people (this includes you) where one person is a friend-ish acquaintance and the other person you don't know so well. You're not really adding that much to the conversation, but then the person you don't know so well criticizes one of your favorite books/movies/characters, etc. What do you do? Scowl and shut up, jump into defense, or other? ;)

I'd jump into defence. I could not HELP it. I'd try to be as polite as possible, but I might not be able to resist muttering under my breath, "No, you're wrong. So just sit there in your wrongness and be wrong." :D

I have to do the others in another comment, Blogger won't accept it all at once....

Miss Dashwood said...

My questions...
1. Have you ever eaten caviar? If so, what was it like? If not, would you be willing to try it someday?

Haven't eaten it, but I miiiiiiiight try it. Someday. :P

2. When did you first learn to ride a bike?

I was nine. Heehee. It was a hand-me-down bike from my cousin and my mom and I practiced in an empty parking lot at the playground for AGES before I felt secure enough to ride without her hand on the seat. :D

3. Elizabeth Gaskell or Charles Dickens? (I leave Jane Austen out of it, we all KNOW she's the best...)

I'm gonna steal your answer and go with Dickens, because there's more of him. Plus I don't know what I'd do without Little Dorrit.

4. What's your favorite long/interesting/complex word?

Currently I really like "fantasmagoric" but I discovered "scripturient" the other day and was delighted.

5. Put your music playing device on shuffle and tell us the names of the first three songs that come up, no skipping.

-Cry, Baby, Cry (S&S Musical)
-O Sacred Head Now Wounded (Hymns of Worship)
-Wedding Chorale/Beggars at the Feast (Les Mis TTAC)

6. What's the funniest dream you ever had?

Ummm... proberly the one I told you about where I met Richard Armitage at the liberry. Heehee.

7. How many plays have you seen performed live? (School plays and amateur productions totally count.)

Sheesh. A lot. Including school plays and amateur productions and going in some semblance of chronological order... Cinderella, Charlotte's Web, The Wind in the Willows, Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Little Women, Fiddler on the Roof, The Miracle Worker and Les miserables. So... twelve.

8. Mexican food, Chinese food or neither? Why?

Mexican, usually, but I do like Chinese. Fake Chinese, haha.

9. Is there a name that you consistently mispronounced for years and then finally heard someone say it out loud and felt completely mortified for saying it wrong all that time?

Um, I used to say Passepartout (from Around the World in 80 Days) as if the last syllable rhymed with "stout." And I used to say Ramin Karimloo as if it were Raymond without the D and then CAR-uhm-loo (it's rah-MEEN KARE-m-loo). But that wasn't for years, just a few months. Mor'ifying.

10. Which Les Mis character are you?

Marius. (Sigh.) Hahahahahaha. Let's get married.

11. What's your favorite board game? (it doesn't have to be an actual BOARD game... technically Bananagrams isn't a board game, but you know the genre I'm talking about)

Trivial Pursuit! I also love Scrabble. And Imaginiff. And Uno. And Phase 10. And... did I miss anything? If I did, you'll be sure to tell me. :P

Melody said...

Miss Evelyn,
Haha, glad that's cleared up.

Lily,
Oooh, I loved the "yet" right there. :D You SHOULD make a blog, heehee. And you are sort of a half-blogger since you do follow & comment on them... you even have a dashboard. :)
Ah yes, the evil deeds of Hotmail. I shall nevah forgive them. ;) Hey, if you want to switch our correspondence to Gmail, let me know. (I actually use my Gmail address more often, haha.)
Ooh the ocean! How thrilling! Didn't you say you'd never been there before? Going to the ocean tends to remind me of the pirate story we started writing before... ;)
Love that friendship quote. :D And delightful other ones, too. Haha, and if I'd been writing the tag questions for you especially perhaps I would have said 1-3 quotes for each... but not everybody has quotes as their one weakness like you and I do. ;D

Melody said...

Lizzie,
Yay, another walk-in-circles talker! ;) The thing is, I tend to get out of breath and I don't notice at first... hahaha.

Miss Dashwood,
Ha, well, you could refuse the command if you really didn't want to. ;D Ha, I wouldn't expect any of them to surprise you... you couldn't have known them all, though. ;D I bet everybody knew 4, though. *snort*
Ha, it does sound like a Ramona thing to do! I never thought about that. Sometimes I like to sing the "I'm going to have a party" thing. Ooh, oh, we will have to sing that before ours. :D
Well, skulk is not my favorite word at the moment...it's just the last one that amused me. :)
Did I never tell you my dinosaur dream before this??? o.O
And I must have told you I'd been to that opera before... it was The Marriage of Figaro, and my brother was playing in the orchestra. And I was so sad that I didn't know Jane Austen at the time, because it has Lizzy's Pemberley song. Although if I had known JA I would have been so tempted to stand up and scream "PEMBERLEY SCENE PEMBERLEY SCEEEEENE!!!!!"
Haha. :D
Oh, well, I'm glad you like Cosette, if I am her. :P I got Valjean the second time I took it (I can never resist second results)... but I preferred to have A Girl. ;)
Yeah, some random friend of yours might have Balderdash. You never know. ;) ;)

Wait, I know the answer to #2? Hahaha, but it's not exactly the PLACE itself you long to visit... (although I'm in great hopes that you will end up loving it :D).
Ohyesocourse, your graduation. That must be it. :)
Ha, you discovered that quote recently--was it from me or not? I did put it in your valentine, you know. :D
I love that sit-there-in-your-wrongness thing. Hahahaha. I would do the same thing...

You know, I quite like the tune to "Cry, Baby, Cry". Mostly I wasn't impressed with the tunes of the songs but I do like that one. :)
Haha, just thinking about the Richard Armitage dream MMG.
You saw a play of Nicholas Nickleby? You must telllll me about these. :D
Let's get married... BAHAHAHAHA. That settles it--we should sing a Marius and Cosette song when you are here.
Um... no, I didn't just say that. Strike it from the record. ;P
Ooh, what's Phase 10? I would love Scrabble if a) it didn't take so long and b) I didn't usually lose. :P And I'll have to play Trivial Pursuit someday, even if it does sound like something I'd be terrible at, just tootuz you like it. :D (And it DOES look better than Tribond. More interesting categories. ;) )
Okay, shutting up.

Yeah, sowwy I haven't been on here in a while. :)
Oh boy, that one of the cat...OURS DO THE SAME THING. 'Tis exasperating. Only they aren't allowed to go outside, it's just the inside doors that they do this with. Victor Hugo actually talks about it in "Les Miserables" and that was quite a surprise...I'd never heard about any other cats doing it before. :)
OOHHH, I have ALWAYS wanted an old fashioned typewriter like that! It's sort of a dream of mine. Love that picture, and the bicycle one too! Such pretty lighting.
Haha, I actually DO like Charles Dickens better than Jane Austen (though I love her too)...so I guess I can just sit here being wrong. :)
Haha, I had a hard time with the interesting word question too. :) Lovely post!
