In case you weren't aware, this December is the 50th anniversary for the debut of the oh-so-popular, ten-million-award-winning, insert-professional-sounding-praises film My Fair Lady. (If you don't want to do the math-- and if you're anything like me, you don't-- that puts us back to 1964.)

Well, a certain best friend and I decided we couldn't let it pass completely without doing something. (It just happens to kind of be our special musical, so, you know.)
And that is why we are hosting a watch-along event, scheduled for the evenings of January 7th and 8th, 2015. (I can't believe we only have two full days left of 2014. What.)
On January the 7th, you'll want to tune in over at Miss Dashwood's blog at 8 pm Central Standard Time to watch the first half-- that is, up to intermission. (So if you're Eastern, I hope your bedtime isn't normally at 9, and if you're Pacific, I hope we're not interrupting dinner at 6. But hey, you can't even please everybody in the US time zones. :P If you're outside of the US-- well, I hope you'll watch it too and come in and add your two cents after the fact. :D)
What we're going to do then is have a blog post up specifically for us all to comment as a sort of chat during the movie. We're all going to begin the movie at 8 pm sharp, so make sure to get on & settled fifteen minutes early. :) (I guess that will make you fashionably early, what?)
On January 8th, we're going to watch the second half over here at this blog. Mine. Yes, hello. *waves*
Also at 8 pm-- let's keep things simple, shall we? ;) Everything else applies, too-- the only thing different is the location.
Then the following day, it may just happen that there will be some fun things up at both our blogs, possibly even priiiiizes, so stay tuned. :D
All right, who's in? Go ahead and spread the word. :D And feel free to comment with any questions.
That looks like it will be fun! I actually have not seen My Fair Lady, my younger sister has though! I am not sure if I would be able to do the watch-along, eight pm is always different and ver interesting at our house!
ReplyDelete*sigh* I wish I could participate. Eight o'clock in America is in the middle of the night, or very early morning for me (I live in Belgium), so 't would be impossible. Also, I'm the only one in the family who likes My Fair Lady, so asking them to watch it would be quite... interesting. But never mind, I'll enjoy everyone else's comments. When other people are happy, I automatically cheer up. :-)
ReplyDeleteBut this is a grand idea, and I'm sure it'll be very fun indeed. Absoblumelutely loverly, and all that.
So that would be 1pm Tuesday.. sounds possible :D
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I like that picture at the top!
ReplyDelete(HAHAHAHHAHAHA instead of having a captcha code at the bottom they have this thing where you can click a button to say you're not a robot... is this new? "I'm not a robot." Snort.)
In Which I Temporarily Wish That I Lived In America.
ReplyDeleteOr at least somewhere where eight o'clock your time didn't mean my middle-of-night. Sniff.
:P
But hopefully everyone will enjoy it, and there'll be lots of fun reading material in the comments the day after. (Albeit with Feelings of Jealously... Haha.)
