Just search for "Rebecca Jeremy Brett" and you'll find it. I liked it so well, I'm pretty tempted to find a greymarket copy since it's not available otherwise.Hamlette (Rachel)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11961916847426233995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648706431833666913.post-31846044941507212002014-02-10T15:07:26.768-07:002014-02-10T15:07:26.768-07:00Livia Rachelle,

I used to hardly know any of the actual actors' names but I kind of picked them up since I started blogging. ;)
Yeah... well, in the movie, my main problem with Clara was marrying the guy to begin with without knowing him well enough and doing it all even though it was obvious Davy (and Peggotty, haha) were disapproving. After that... she was obviously not okay with the fact that Davy was being abused but it's one of those controlling situations where there's not much a person like her could do. (I would try something, though. If I had a son I'm sure I'd risk my life for him... not just sit there crying. :P)

Countrygirl and Naomi-- thanks! :)

Natalie,
Julia Sawalha also played Mercy ("Merry") Pecksniff in Martin Chuzzlewit. It was made just a year before P&P.

Hamlette,
Ooh, another period drama with Joanna David! Thanks for letting me know. I may have to try to look it up! :)

Amy,
Do you mean DC 1999? 2000 is the one with Anthony Andrews. 1999 is the one with Emilia Fox. :D
Yezzzz... I have to say, Miss Lane actually grows on me. She used to annoy me even more than she does now. Really, though, I like her more as the series goes on... most of my least-favorite moments with her are in the first or second seasons. And I love cultured British accents. :D Other kinds are interesting, but I don't find them as delightfully fascinating. Heehee.
As to the Mrs. Hurst gif-- yes. Thank you. ;)
I KNOWWW. Grrr. WE NEED TO KNOW THE PONTEFRACT STORY. :PMelodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05676306236172688321noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648706431833666913.post-89288466383904191172014-02-09T17:03:16.339-07:002014-02-09T17:03:16.339-07:00Wheeeeeeee, P&P95!

Weeeeeeeeeally, Hawwiet...

I WANT TO SEE DC 2000. And what FUN about it being the same coat/pelisse! I wonder if there are any other actresses who have worn the same outfit in more than one movie? It would be a fun thing to research...

"It's not her fault the BBC was not on top of period dramas yet at that point." BAHAHAHAHA.

I love the way Miss Lane speaks. It's so... cultured and enunciatory. (Shush, Chrome, of course that's a word.) I just love Miss Lane, really. Even though she annoys me sometimes with her line of beaux on a string that are all crazy for her. Snort.

I wuv the Mrs. Hurst gif, but you knew that already. :D

I SO wish Ruby's story had been finished definitively. UGH. I want to KNOW what happened with Pontefract, Anne!Miss Dashwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15821653607968651548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648706431833666913.post-71137332167414589902014-02-08T10:58:08.444-07:002014-02-08T10:58:08.444-07:00Fun post! Like in The King's Speech when Jennifer Ehle's character first meets Colin Firth's character and says, "Oh, it's you!"

I reeeeally liked Joanna David in the 1979 version of Rebecca -- I reviewed it here for last year's Period Drama Challenge, and as I mentioned there, she and the other lead from Rebecca (Jeremy Brett) acted opposite each other once more in an episode of his Sherlock Holmes series.

More posts like this would be awesome!Hamlette (Rachel)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11961916847426233995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648706431833666913.post-14723989554803568962014-02-06T03:08:06.176-07:002014-02-06T03:08:06.176-07:00Oh! I agree, I like the clear way she speaks as well. :)
What other notable characters has she played? I've only seen her as Lydia, Miss Lane, and Jessie Brown.Nataliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00315660089925645214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6648706431833666913.post-40014968057320599262014-02-05T04:38:24.867-07:002014-02-05T04:38:24.867-07:00Oh! I don't always care enough to know all the names, so I will be like "Oh, that is Miss Bingley" or whatever referring to the actor or actress.

I have never completed David Copperfield, but I from what I have read I totally agree with your sentiment of knocking sense into her! I hated her SO much; Davy was being ABUSED; what kind of bother sits by and believes her husband and his horrible sister like that?!Livia Rachellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02755623391278276925noreply@blogger.com
