(That title is based on something Frank Churchill said to Emma in the 2009 mini-series.)
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The halls in our house are decked with holly...well, not really, but our decorations are up, and I wanted to make my blog look festive too...especially since most my posts from here on will be something Christmas-based, as I discussed in this post.
Now, as you can see I've already made a new blog top, and I've also changed the link colors to red and green. (The blog top picture is from the 2009 Emma...that's Jane Austen's story that has the most about Christmas, and that mini-series has some great snowy and Christmassy scenes!)
I'm having a little trouble with background though, and decided to ask my readers for their opinions. I've tried several things, and I'll list them here so you can vote on which one is your favorite! Now whatever wins doesn't necessarily mean that's what I'll use, but there's a good chance, and I really want to know what you'd like most to see. =) I'd really appreciate comments too!
These are in no particular order, just whatever I happened to try first. (If you want to see the pictures bigger, just click on them.)
Choice 1: Patterned background/wallpaper
Choice 2: Dark green
Choice 3: Minty green
Choice 4: Very dark red
Choice 5: Dark red
Choice 6: A sort of light gold (at least that's what it's supposed to be)
Choice 7: The current background - whitish

I really like the dark red background. I think it would suit your blog, and look very christmasy (I know, 'christmasy' isn't even a word). Although I like them all.

I chose the dark red (number 5). I really liked the Frank Churchill quote--ugh, I'm supposed to hate Frank but there are times when I actually like him.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me I'm not the only one.
I'm partial to the Very Dark Red so that's what I voted for. I think it or the Dark Green would go best with your link colors, your delightful header and the Christmas theme.
ReplyDeleteMiss Dashwood, you're not the only one who likes Frank Churchill. I don't count him among Jane Austen's villains as some people do because his intent was never to do evil even though he did act quite selfishly at times. Whereas the Eltons could be quite mean. Frank and Jane's story is quite an interesting one and I'd love to read a retelling of Emma from their point of view!
My favorite is the first one. It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like the patterned background best. It looks very nice, has a Christmas feel to it, and makes the background more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI like all of them, but especially the dark red one and the goldish one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like Frank Churchill too! I have a post in my head defending him, but I'm not sure if it's ever going to get posted.
Ugh, all this Frank-ness! Frank Churchill is just so deceitful and it doesn't seem to bug him to say what he doesn't mean, that I don't like him at all anymore. Although I didn't used to dislike him as much as I do now. :P Although I confess, he CAN be amusing.
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for your opinions everyone!
